Loco Lolo's Hot Sauce is a Filipino-owned business based in Montebello, California. In 2012, Don Rafael, a hot sauce connoisseur, decided to grow various hot peppers at his home in the Chicagoland area. He started to mis his peppers as a hobby in an effort to create a sauce that met his liking. Through trial, error, and feedback from family members, friends, and acquaintances, he has perfected his Loco Lolo's Hot Sauce. Each bottle has been artfully crafted to ensure maximum enjoyment and satisfaction from customers and enthusiasts.
The Challenge for this project was to have my client's hot sauce logo stand out from his competitors while still portraying elements of Filipino's culture. It was requested to also use his image as part of the logo. I wanted to give the logo a traditional look while using the colors and elements from the Filipino flag. For the logo, I chose the font Nexa Rust Slab for Loco Lolo's Hot Sauce since this font has texture that has a grainy look and feel. I wanted the logo to have a font that almost resembles hot sauce when it's being served. During the research phase, I learned more about Loco Lolo's background, while also researching their audience and competition. The Loco Lolo's Hot Sauce logo stands apart from its competitor because its cultural colors and elements.
